Horses are as individual as humans, dogs, cats, and other animals when it comes to personality. You may have six bay horses in the pasture, but I’m betting you can tell who’s doing what just by their behavior.
Many non-horse people believe that one horse is just the same as another. Horse lovers know this is not the case and can give many an example to dispute that claim.
Whenever a group of horse enthusiasts get together the stories of each of their horse’s personalities and antics are a great hit. Most of the examples are funny but some can be sorrowful too.

The different horse personalities can keep a horse owner awake at night, pulling their hair out, and exercising their brain in a futile effort to keep one step ahead of their resident escape artist.
Horses can be playful and full of mischief. The playful ones are the first to figure out how to escape their stall or paddock and then figure out how to let all their friends out to play with them. There are the shy ones who hang back in the corner of the stall or at the back of the herd and wait for you to approach them.
The bossy mare always makes herself known right off the bat, pushing the others away and demanding your attention. There are the ones who love to work that will stick their nose in just about anything faintly resembling a halter and practically put their tack on themselves for you.
Then there are the ones that hate to work and make you chase them around the pasture for hours while they avoid capture. The cocky and sure ones who think they can take on the world and do anything, who look so surprised when they realize they can’t accomplish something.
The been there done that ones are a barn favorite, they look at you and you swear they actually roll their eyes at you whenever you make a mistake. Whatever the personality your horse has you’ll be able to describe it to any person in perfect detail.
