If you want to race or bash with your RC vehicle then there really is no better company to get your first RC vehicle from than Traxxas. They have a well founded reputation for making some of the best vehicles for newcomers. One question that is commonly asked though is out of the 3 fairly low priced models – the Traxxas Stampede RTR, Rustler, and the Bandit – which is the best?

It all depends on what you plan to do once you get your model. For racers, the Rustler is highly recommended, as it is a really well balanced model that can navigate a lot of terrain and it is pretty sturdy as well. Taking racing lines or at least learning how to take them best can be done in style in a Rustler. Many people don’t know that the Bandit is so similar to the Rustler in that all it takes for one to be converted into the other is for the wheels to be changed and the body swapped over and you have the choice of both models.

As far as the RTR Traxxas Stampede goes, this is the best model if you want to do a lot of bashing and jumps in your back garden. No other truck is quite as tough as the Stampede, and its large tires are great at clearing most of the terrain that you will find. However, because of how high off the ground the chassis is as well as the medium soft suspension, it does not handle as well as a Rustler while taking corners so stay away from it if you plan to do a lot of racing.

The Stampede shares most of its parts with the Rustler and the Bandit; however you need to change the gearing as well as the wheels and body to get the same effect. If you like racing however, go for the Rustler.
